Privacy policy

Last updated November 3, 2026

Kazbit makes Mac apps that work offline. Your files stay on your Mac, and we don’t run analytics, crash reporting, advertising or tracking of any kind. This page lists everything that does leave your Mac, and why.

Your boards and files

Slate saves each board as an SVG file in a folder you choose on your Mac. We never see your boards. Slate doesn’t upload, sync or back them up anywhere. Version history is kept in Slate’s cache folder on your Mac.

What Slate sends

Slate connects to the internet for three things, all on our own domain.

Activating a license (once per Mac) sends to license.kazbit.com:

Our license server passes these to Polar, which issued your key, and sends back a signed license that Slate saves on your Mac. The license contains your email address, your key’s ID, the activation’s ID, the hash, and the Slate version it covers. It lets Slate check your license offline from then on.

Checking a license (at launch and once a day, only when online) sends your license key, the activation ID and the same hash. This is how a refund, or a Mac you removed from your account, reaches the app.

Checking for updates (at launch and once a day) downloads a small file from update.kazbit.com that names the latest version, and downloads the update if you install it. Nothing about you goes with it beyond what any web request carries, such as your IP address.

Like any web server, ours see your IP address and your app’s version when Slate connects. We use that only to answer the request and to keep the service running, and the license server’s logs are deleted within a week.

Feedback you send us

Help › Send Feedback opens an email in your mail app with your Slate version, your macOS version and Slate’s log file from ~/Library/Logs/Slate attached. Nothing is sent until you press Send, and you can read or remove the attachment first. We use what you send only to help you and fix Slate.

Claude and other AI apps

Slate includes an MCP server that lets AI apps you connect, such as Claude, Codex or Cursor, read and draw on your boards. It runs on your Mac and talks only to those apps. What they then send to their own services is covered by their privacy policies, not this one. Slate itself never sends your boards anywhere.

Buying

Polar (polar.sh) is the merchant of record for our sales. It takes your payment, handles sales tax and VAT, and emails your license key. Polar processes your name, email address, billing address and payment details under its own privacy policy. We see your order: your name, email address, country, what you bought and when. We use it to support you and to keep the records the law requires.

This website

kazbit.com sets no cookies and has no analytics or third-party scripts. Its fonts are served from our own domain.

Who processes your data

We don’t sell or rent personal data, and we don’t share it with anyone except these providers, or when the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Your choices and rights

You can see your license keys and remove Macs from your license at any time in your account. To get a copy of the data we hold about you, correct it or delete it, email support@kazbit.com. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, and we’ll honor them.

Our apps and website aren’t directed at children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects what Slate sends, we’ll say so in the release notes for that version.
